Purpose
Every Sunday, our teachers’ goals are to love each and every child with the love of Christ, connect to them on a personal level, and teach them about the true, living God. Inside and outside of church, we pray for them continually, with the overarching desire that our children will voluntarily make the decision to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
Bible Study
Our teachers use David C. Cook’s “Bible in Life” curriculum. We chose this curriculum because it focuses on four basic goals: connect to children, teach them at their appropriate level of understanding, apply Biblical lessons to everyday life, and motivate them to practice what they have learned.
Praise
Our children attend worship with their teachers in the main sanctuary before their Bible lessons. We believe that it’s a great way for them to learn the purpose and practice of praising God, and an opportunity to unite our entire congregation on Sundays. We desire that through the example of the adults and with inspiration from the Holy Spirit, they will learn to freely express their love for God.
Kids’ Day
We set aside one Saturday afternoon every few months to take our children on a field trip, where our teachers and other adult members of our church can spend some quality time with our kids and get to know each other better, while having a lot of fun! Past Kids’ Days have included trips to the Skirball Museum, and activities at La Mirada Park. In the coming year we look forward to more fun activities, such as a day at the water park in the summer, where we will also have the opportunity to strengthen our relationships with our wonderful kids.
Awana
This program will take place in the summer, on Sundays before service. Activities include a variety of games and Bible verse memorization, for which they will receive badges. The purpose behind this program is to encourage and spiritually equip our children, while having fun at the same time. We look forward to the additional opportunity to build them up and share God’s joy with them!
